Why There Likely Won’t Be a Federal Lockdown

The United States is in a bad place when it comes to Covid-19. There continue to be record numbers of cases and hospitalizations. Some may wonder whether the U.S. will soon undergo lockdowns similar to other countries in Europe. While there will likely be more restrictions throughout the U.S., a full lockdown is unlikely. This is largely because the U.S. government has not passed another financial aid package, and therefore a full lockdown would be dire for American jobs. “People can’t just be expected to stay home indefinitely and not be able to support themselves or feed themselves or their families,” one expert tells Dana Smith.
