Why public health experts say it’s okay to protest. Dr. Valerie Montgomery Rice, president of Morehouse School of Medicine, writes that for public health experts, the question isn’t whether people should protest, but how. She writes:

The systemic racial and social injustices experienced by minority populations in this country translate into the growing health disparities we see in health outcomes, including Covid-19 disparities where African Americans account for approximately 30% of cases throughout the country despite representing only 13% of the overall population. Many of these determinants of health are driving factors in the social injustice protesters are seeking to dismantle.
