What You Should Know About Minks and Covid-19

The Danish government announced on Wednesday that the country plans to kill millions of mink at more than 1,000 farms due to concerns that a mutation of Covid-19 that has infected the mink could interfere with vaccine effectiveness in humans. There are over 15 million mink in Denmark, and the country’s armed forces will be involved in the slaughter. The World Health Organization (WHO) told the New York Times that it has been “informed by Denmark of a number of persons infected with coronavirus from mink, with some genetic changes in the virus.” Read more about the issue below.
