The Caregivers of Covid-19 Long-Haulers

Fiona Lowenstein, who dealt with symptoms from her Covid-19 infection that lingered for months, has written a feature for Elemental on the people who care for loved ones with long Covid. Her own partner, Sunik, provided a lot of care for her during her illness. Lowenstein is the founder of Body Politic, a wellness collective that has become a large support group for people with long Covid. Many people in the support group also rely on the care of others. “We are culturally so ableist, and we need a more normalized relationship with the idea that we all will need care and need to care for each other,” one person with long Covid told Lowenstein.
