It’s Understandable if Your Memory Is Confused Right Now

Over the last few months, you might have found that your memory is a bit out of whack. Maybe you can’t remember certain things, or maybe you misremember them as they actually happened. Certainly, the sheer volume of events that have occurred this year is no help, but as Robert Roy Britt writes in Elemental, the many stresses of Covid-19 may be interfering with the way we form memories. The process is pliable on purpose, he writes, but this “opens it up to a host of potential errors, with consequences ranging from benign to tragic, from innocent lies to dangerously inaccurate beliefs about Covid-19 or other hot-button issues.”
