Don’t panic over the “new” swine flu you’ve been reading about. Last week, researchers published a paper in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences detailing a newly identified swine flu strain in China. The virus is similar to H1N1, the type of influenza virus that emerged in 2009 and caused a flu pandemic. That, of course, sounds scary, because what the world doesn’t need now is a pandemic on top of a pandemic.
