The Institution for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) is an independent global health research center at the University of Washington. The group has released projections of the Covid-19 impact on health care usage and deaths in each state, as well as when they predict the outbreak to peak. You can use their tool to search state by state see where hospital capacity gaps or shortages for beds or ventilators exist. (The projections assume the continuation of strong social distancing measures and other protective measures).

This post includes examples of the data visualizations for the United States, California, and New York. See their tool for much, much more.
