How physical distancing recommendations are being followed in certain states

How has movement changed during the pandemic? It seems Americans are getting the message—especially New Yorkers.

Researchers at the data science company Descartes Labs collected data from mobile devices reporting throughout the day and calculated the maximum distance moved from the first reported location. They then generated a mobility metric for selected states, and show changes in movement over the month of March. (States like New York—at least according to this data—seem to be taking the distancing measures seriously).
